Teathering a BlackBerry Curve 8330 to Mac on the Verizon Network
This document describes the steps that are necessary to Teather a
BlackBerry Curve 8330 Cellular phone to a Macintosh on the Verizon
Network. It is possible that some of the following steps may not be
necessary but have been documented here. The steps are:
Back to Menu
Pair the Bluetooth Device with the Macintosh
- On the Curve go to the Set Up Bluetooth icon and select Allow
another device to find me and click OK.
- Open the Bluetooth Setup Assistanct by clicking on
in the top bar and selecting Set Up Bluetooth Device... The following
screen will be displayed:
- Specify the Device Type as Mobile
Phone and then click Continue
- Once the device shows up in the list click Continue:
- Once the device has estabished a connection it will present a
passkey.
Enter this passkey on the BlackBerry, check the box indicating that it
should always allow connection and then press OK. Once the Phone is
finished Click on Continue
- Next select check the Access
the Internet check box and then press Continue.
- Take the defaults on the next page and press Continue:
- Click on Quit and the
device is connected but it is not capable of being used yet.
Back to Menu
Configure the Bluetooth Device.
- Open Network Preferences and insure that the Bluetooth Device is
on the list. If it is not the click on the + in the lower left hand side of
the page and add the device. Once added it should look something like:
- Set the Vendor to Other
and the Model to Verizon Support (PC
5220). Then click OK
and then when returned to the Network Perferences click on Apply.
- Next on the Network Peference page click on Set Up Bluetooth Device...
- Click on the
in the lower left hand corner and
select Configure This Device
- Enter your phone
number in front of vzw3g.com. Enter "vzw" in password field and
#777 in the Phone Number Field and the click Continue
- Press Quit and you
should be ready to connect!
Back to Menu
Connecting to the Internet
- Click on the phone in the Top bar and specify Connect to
BlackBerry
- When you are successfully connected you should see:

Disconnecting from the Internet
- To Disconnect click on the Phone in the top bar and select
Disconnect
